Sure-footed no longer makes you immune to falling (LHM-59). This takes something away from anyone who carved it to rank five. The ranks stay and keep what they gave, -10% fall damage each, so -50% at rank five. The capstone was a second -50%, which added up to -100% and turned a fall from any height into nothing. It is now a landing roll: a dodge pressed in the last 0.3 seconds before you touch down makes the fall count 8 metres shorter, before the percentage is taken. A fall of 20 metres, which kills in vanilla, counts as 12 and costs a quarter of your health at rank five where it used to cost nothing. A fall from the top of a mountain still hurts, roll or no roll.
The dodge has to be one you could make. It does not count with an empty stamina bar, over your carry limit, or while you are attacking, staggered, rolling or dead, and it spends the stamina a roll always does. A roll pressed earlier than that, or after you land, does nothing, and a dodge cannot be saved for a later drop. Switching Rist off switches the roll off too. Nothing is refunded, since the ranks keep what they gave. The capstone is a different thing at the same rank. With Long stride, the roll is applied after its landing correction, so both hold.
