One chest, on purpose
The obvious version of a crafting-storage mod reaches into every container within range. It works, and it quietly ends the game's storage problem: your base becomes one inventory, and which room you built the chest in stops mattering.
Tether links one chest to a station. That constraint is not a limitation I failed to remove — it is the feature. You still decide what lives where, and a forge with the wrong chest tied to it is a decision you made rather than a system you disabled.
The link lives on the station's ZDO rather than the chest's, which makes the rule structural instead of enforced: a station holds one value, so tethering a second chest replaces the first. Nothing has to check. A chest serving several stations is a different question, and that one is allowed.
Pressing the key at a chest ties it to everything in range; pressing at a single station takes only the nearest chest. Which end you are standing at changes what you meant, and that turned out to be the whole interface.
